Season 2020 opens on Wednesday March 2. Join/Rejoin using membership application form below

ALL ANGLERS PLEASE NOTE. The barrier to the main car park is locked at 9 pm, so if you need to exit between this time and the end of an evening session, please leave your vehicle in the car park and not at the Bailiff's Hut. The duty bailiff will unlock the barrier as usual at the end of the session. Of course, in case of emergency, or by prior arrangement with the bailiff, you can ask him to unlock the barrier at any time.

Keen angler and photographer, Dave Murray, captured this hardy – and enthusiastic! – bunch on Opening Day, Saturday March 16, at the Island Pond, Monikie Country Park.
Sixteen club stalwarts braved the cold, wind and snow to celebrate a chilly start to Season 2019.
WELCOME to the Monikie Angling Club website.
Formed in 1976, the club is located in Monikie Country Park, a few miles from Dundee.
If you’re searching for some of the best trout fishing in the East of Scotland – and beyond – you've come to the right place.
Season 2019 opens on Saturday, March 16.
It had been intended to open earlier, at the beginning of the month, but due to the very low rainfall since late December, water levels in the Island Pond and the North Pond are, disappointingly, too low to allow the boats to be moored at the piers.
Any updates will appear here, and on the club’s Facebook page (see link right).
Pre-season stocking will take place as planned.
Please follow the club’s website and Facebook page for further updates.
Session dates are posted below.
You can join/rejoin the club by downloading our Season 2020 application form.
NB – renewals must be with the membership secretary by February 29.
To book a boat, please phone the Bailiff on 01382 370300, any day, 9-10.30 am, 1-1.30 pm and 4.30-6.30 pm.
There is disabled parking at the Bailiff’s hut at the Island Pond for the use of Blue Badge holders, and anglers who have been issued, at the discretion of the Committee, a Club Parking Permit.
Other anglers – members and visitors – may also park here if space allows. If not, anglers can drive down, drop off their gear, then drive back to the public car park.
Barrows are also available to transport your stuff from the public car park to the jetty.
Not ready to join but want to get in touch? Drop us an email at
* The parks are administered by ANGUSalive and provide a large variety of facilities.

Boat fishing only

The Club provides fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout in two ponds – they’re known as ponds but are huge loch-size stretches of water. The bailiff's hut (complete with tea, coffee and microwave facilities) is located beside the Island Pond in Monikie Country Park.
We have 17 boats available (11 on the Island, 6 on the North) to members and visitors; including visiting clubs.
Anglers are welcome to use their own electric outboard motors, but none are available for hire.

Please note it is fly fishing only. No bank fishing is permitted. Please also note that only club boats can be used for angling, and no anchoring is permitted.
Also, anglers must wear lifejackets, provided by the club, at all times while on the water.

Session dates

The 2020 fishing session dates (to be confirmed) are:

Day session, North Pond . . . . . March 2 – October 31
Evening Session (both ponds) . . . . . April 20 – August 24

Session times

Day session, 09:30 – 16:30.

There are some big fish in the Monikie waters with last season's heaviest weighing in at 4 lb 15 oz.
One thing that is certain about all of Monikie's fish – they are all high quality, fully finned, hard fighting trout.

To paraphrase a well know TV advert, club members widely consider Monikie to be:

“Probably the best value fishing in Scotland”
