WELCOME to Monikie Angling Club.
"Probably the best value fly fishing in Scotland"!
Our 2024 season opens on March 2.
Formed in 1976, the club is located in Monikie Country Park, a few miles from Dundee.
If you’re searching for some of the best trout fly fishing in the East of Scotland – and beyond – you've come to the right place.
See session dates and times below.
Boat prices are published here.
Buy vouchers for yourself or a friend here.
You can join/rejoin the club by downloading our Season 2024 application form here.

To book a boat, please phone the Bailiff on 01382 370300, any day, 9.00 am – 10.30 am, 1.00 pm – 1.30 pm and 5.00 pm – 6.30 pm (later time during double sessions only).

There is disabled parking at the Bailiff’s hut at the Island Pond for the use of Blue Badge holders, and anglers who have been issued, a Club Parking Permit.
Other anglers – members and visitors – may also park here if space allows. If not, anglers can drive down, drop off their gear, then drive back to the public car park.
Barrows are also available to transport your stuff from the public car park to the jetty.
See also PARKING GUIDELINES and CLUB POLICIES.
* The park is administered by ANGUSalive and provides a large variety of facilities.

Boat fishing only

The Club provides fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout in two ponds – they’re known as ponds but are huge loch-size stretches of water. The bailiff's hut is located beside the Island Pond in Monikie Country Park. We have 17 boats (12 on the Island Pond, 5 on the North) available to members and visitors; including visiting clubs. Anglers are welcome to use their own electric outboard motors, but none are available for hire. Please note it is fly fishing only. No bank fishing is permitted. Please also note that only club boats can be used for angling, and no anchoring is permitted. Also, anglers must wear a lifejacket at all times while on the water. This can be their own, or one provided by the club. See conditions below.

Session dates

Island Pond and North Pond open March 2 (Day sessions only).
North Pond closes October 26.
Island Pond closes November 9.
Half day sessions (both ponds) available from March 3.
Evening Session (both ponds) April 13 - August 17.

Session times

Day session: 9 am to 4.30 pm.
Evening session: 5 pm to time on board at bailiff's hut.
Half day morning: 9 am to 12.30 pm.
Half day afternoon: 1 pm – 4.30 pm.

Full session boats can be booked up to 14 days in advance. Half day bookings can only be made one day in advance and will be dependent on availability. One booking per day per angler. Full day boats will still be available at the normal price and booking arrangements. Single angler boats can be booked up to two days in advance. Lifejackets must be worn on top of clothing at all times. You can wear your own, provided it is activated automatically by a CO2 device and you have signed our Disclaimer form, or they are available free of charge at the Bailiff's hut. There are some big fish in the Monikie waters. The heaviest rainbow was caught by member Dennis Hamilton in April 2010 – a monster weighing in at 10 lb 12 oz! But One thing is certain about all of Monikie's fish – they are all high quality, fully finned, hard fighting trout.
To paraphrase a well known TV advert, club members widely consider Monikie to offer:

“Probably the best value fishing in Scotland”
